The Texas Ground Water Association is the oldest association in Texas dedicated to preserving ground water resources while advancing the science of water well construction and promoting the ground water industry. The core purpose of the association is to provide guidance to members, government representatives and the public for sound scientific, economic, and beneficial development, protection, and management of the world's ground water resources. A Water Well Driller drills, bores, cores, or constructs a water well. It includes an owner, an operator, a contractor, and a drilling supervisor. A Pump Installer installs or repairs well pumps and equipment. This is the Home Page for our licensing agency.
The Texas Commision on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is the lead environmental agency for the state. The TCEQ has approximately 3,000 employees, 16 regional offices, and a $395.5 million annual appropriated budget for the 2003 fiscal year. Most of the budget is funded by program fees ($323 million or 81.7 percent). Federal funds provide $38.8 million, or 9.8 percent; state general revenue, including earned federal funds, provides $29.7 million, or 7.5 percent; and other sources provide the remaining $4.1 million, or 1 percent. The TWDB is the state agency charged with statewide water planning and administration of low-cost financial programs for the planning, design and construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control and agricultural water conservation projects. The TWDB can make financial assistance available primarily to political subdivisions. The TWDB has no authority to provide financial assistance to individuals.
